Torrent Group Among Six Gujarat Firms to Pledge Over ₹33,000 Crore Investment in Chhattisgarh.

In a major boost to industrial development in Chhattisgarh, six Gujarat-based companies, including Torrent Power, Torrent Pharmaceuticals, and Shalby Hospitals, recently signed investment agreements worth a total of ₹33,320 crore. The projects are expected to create over 15,000 new jobs in the state, which has long grappled with naxal insurgency.

The agreements were formalised during an investors’ summit organised by the Chhattisgarh government in Gujarat.

Torrent Power emerged as the leading investor, committing ₹22,900 crore to set up a 1,600 MW thermal power plant in the tribal-dominated state, generating 5,000 jobs.

Torrent Pharmaceuticals also announced plans to invest ₹200 crore in a new pharmaceutical manufacturing facility.

The second-largest investor, Onix-three Enersol Pvt. Ltd. from Rajkot, pledged an investment of ₹9,000 crore to establish an integrated electrolyser, green hydrogen, green ammonia, and green steel manufacturing plant, expected to provide employment to 4,000 people.

Officials said the summit marks a significant step toward attracting private sector investment and creating sustainable employment opportunities in Chhattisgarh’s emerging industrial landscape.
