Toshiba to Invest ₹3,200 Crore to Expand Transmission and Distribution Equipment Production.
Toshiba Energy Systems & Solutions Corporation recently announced a significant investment of 55 billion yen (approximately ₹3,200 crore) by FY27 to expand its power transmission and distribution (T&D) equipment business, citing rising global electricity demand.
The expanded investment aims to more than double the combined production capacity at Toshiba’s key manufacturing facilities in Japan and India by FY30, compared to FY24 levels. The move builds on a previously announced investment of 20 billion yen in July 2024 for the FY24–FY26 period.
In light of demand surpassing earlier projections, Toshiba will allocate an additional 35 billion yen to its
Hamakawasaki Operations in Kawasaki, Japan, and to Toshiba Transmission & Distribution Systems (TTDI) in Hyderabad, India. The expansion is expected to strengthen Toshiba’s position in the global energy infrastructure market.
