Tumakuru station to get three new platforms.

Tumakuru railway station will get three new platforms in nine months. The decision was taken following the inspection of the Bengaluru-Tumakuru section by Pradeep Kumar Saxena, General Manager, South Western Railway, recently.

At present, there is one platform, which is of a low level. Anil Kumar Agarwal, Divisional Railway Manager, South Western Railway, Bengaluru, who was present during the inspection, said, 'The main problem was the presence of a goods shed in the station, which has now been shifted to Kyathasandra, creating space for the platforms.'

Work on remodelling the yard will also be taken up. Construction of the platforms can be taken up only after work on the yard is complete. The work of constructing the three platforms, each 540 metres in length and 11 metres in width, along with remodelling the yard, will cost between Rs. 10 crore and Rs. 12 crore.
