Urban Development Ministry inks MoU with NBCC, CPWD.
The Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD) recently signed an MoU with public sector construction enterprise NBCC and Central Public Works Department (CPWD) for redevelopment of seven General Pool Residential Accommodation (GPRA) colonies.
NBCC will redevelop Sarojini Nagar, Netaji Nagar, Nauroji Nagar and CPWD will redevelop Kasturba Nagar, Thyagraj Nagar, Srinivaspuri and Mohammadpur. The Cabinet had approved this in July this year.
Earlier, Motibagh and Kidwai Nagar (East) had been redeveloped on similar lines, said Rajiv Gauba Secretary, Ministry of Urban Development but this initiative is much bigger and significant as it is a self-sustainable project.
The total estimated cost of the project is ₹32,835 crore including maintenance and operation costs for 30 years, the statement said, adding that the project would be implemented on self-financing basis by sale of commercial built-up area of 8.07 lakh sq m constructed in Nauroji Nagar and parts of Sarojini Nagar by NBCC as a part of the project.
