Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated and laid the foundation for development projects worth ₹142.25 crore in Gairsain on Monday, commemorating the state’s Silver Jubilee year.
During the event at the Vidhan Sabha premises, CM Dhami paid tribute to the martyrs of the Uttarakhand statehood movement and honoured activists by presenting them with shawls. He inaugurated 27 development projects worth ₹43.63 crore and laid the foundation for 33 projects valued at ₹98.62 crore.
The Chief Minister also visited departmental stalls showcasing initiatives in sectors like agriculture, education, and sports. At the Agriculture Department stall, he personally prepared dishes, highlighting local produce.
The program featured a ceremonial parade by contingents from ITBP, IRB, Civil Police, Home Guards, Women Constables, Fire Service, and NCC Women's Wing, reviewed by CM Dhami to the tunes of the 46th Battalion PAC Band.
Addressing the gathering, CM Dhami highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s participation in the main Silver Jubilee celebrations, noting the ₹8,200 crore in state development projects announced during his visit. He emphasized efforts to position Uttarakhand as the spiritual capital of the world, including restoration and beautification of temples in Kedarkhand and Manaskhand to promote religious tourism.
Remembering the late former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Dhami acknowledged his role in granting Uttarakhand statehood and providing a special industrial package that laid the foundation for the state’s growth.
Highlighting local development initiatives, the Chief Minister mentioned that Sarkot village has been adopted as a model village, and efforts are underway to implement several growth projects in Gairsain.
He also pointed to the state’s progress: Uttarakhand now ranks first in the Sustainable Development Index, has increased farmers’ incomes, reduced unemployment by 4.4%, and received the Most Film-Friendly State award. With central government support, projects in infrastructure, education, health, and air and rail connectivity are progressing, alongside initiatives like Temple Mala Mission, One District One Fair, and adventure tourism promotion.
CM Dhami further highlighted governance measures, including strict land laws and anti-cheating regulations to curb corruption and ensure transparency.
Looking ahead, he announced plans to prepare a DPR for Gairsain and neighbouring areas along smart city lines and connect Chaukhutia, Jyotirmath, and Ghanshali under the UDAN regional air connectivity scheme, reinforcing Uttarakhand’s vision of “Local to Global.”
