Uttarakhand CM Inaugurates Projects Worth Over Rs 54 Crore in Haridwar.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami recently inaugurated and laid the foundation for 239 development projects worth Rs. 54.31 crore at the newly constructed modern sports complex in Haridwar. The projects aim to bolster the region’s infrastructure and provide significant benefits to the local community.
During the event, CM Dhami emphasized the state government's commitment to uninterrupted development under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He highlighted several key initiatives, including the newly built tennis, cricket, and badminton courts at the City Sports Complex. These facilities, developed by the Haridwar-Roorkee Development Authority, are expected to play a crucial role in nurturing local talent and enhancing sports development in the state.
“This sports complex will be important for the players of Haridwar and the entire state, contributing significantly to their development in the field of sports. It is also a major milestone for the upcoming 38th National Games, which will be hosted in Uttarakhand,” CM Dhami said.
Preparations for the National Games are progressing rapidly, with the state upgrading sports infrastructure, including the renovation of stadiums and the development of indoor and outdoor facilities across the state. Haridwar is set to host a portion of the games, which CM Dhami believes will help the city gain recognition as a sports hub.
The Chief Minister also announced preparations for the winter yatra, with Haridwar serving as the main base for the pilgrimage. This initiative is expected to create numerous employment opportunities in the region.
Focusing on infrastructure development, CM Dhami outlined ongoing projects in education, healthcare, and transportation. These include the construction of a medical college in Haridwar, a new modern degree college in the Laldhan area, and a health center in Shyampur. Additionally, the state is working on improving connectivity through the development of a corridor between Haridwar and Rishikesh, a helipad for helicopter services, and efforts to alleviate traffic congestion.
Further, the Chief Minister revealed that the state government has greenlit the construction of a ropeway from Har Ki Pauri to Maa Chandidevi, a project expected to boost tourism and accessibility in the area.
The state government is also focused on creating training facilities for young athletes, with initiatives like the sports zone under the Shankaracharya flyover, as well as large-scale development works including parking, commercial spaces, and parks under the Doodhdhari flyover.
In terms of public welfare, CM Dhami discussed various schemes aimed at strengthening infrastructure, curbing out-migration, and promoting investment and industries within the state. He also spoke about initiatives to empower women economically, citing the Lakhpati Didi Yojana, which has helped over 19,000 people secure government jobs in the last three years.
The Chief Minister also assured that the state would take all necessary steps to protect the demography and announced that the government is in the final stages of preparing to implement the Uniform Civil Code.
