"Uttarakhand Government Gives Nod to Five Solar Power Plants to Foster Green Energy"
The Uttarakhand government has announced its approval for five solar power plants, collectively boasting a capacity of 5,265 kilowatts, under the Chief Minister Solar Self-Employment Scheme. This move, aimed at advancing the state's commitment to green energy, aligns with the government's ongoing efforts to promote solar power.
In accordance with the Uttarakhand State Solar Policy-2023, which was officially notified by the government, the Uttarakhand Renewable Energy Development Agency (UREDA) invited applications in the Type-II category on July 20, 2023, as detailed in an official statement.
R. Meenakshi Sundaram, Secretary of Energy and Alternative Energy, has conveyed that the State Level Monitoring Committee, chaired by him at the government level, has granted approval to five proposals, with a cumulative capacity of 5,265 kilowatts.
These approved projects are poised to bring an approximate investment of Rs 24 crore into the realm of solar energy within the state, thereby nurturing the growth of green energy. In tandem with the Chief Minister Solar Self-Employment Scheme, the state is actively promoting solar power and energy-efficient solutions.
Uttarakhand's commitment to bolstering green energy extends to the Mukhyamantri Solar Swarozgar Yojana, which encourages the establishment of rooftop solar power plants for domestic consumers under the Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited. These initiatives are further complemented by additional subsidies offered by both the Central and State Governments, cementing the state's position as a torchbearer for sustainable energy solutions.
