Vedanta Wins 500 MW Power Supply Contract from Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation.
Vedanta Ltd’s thermal power units - Meenakshi Energy Ltd (MEL) and Vedanta Ltd Chhattisgarh Thermal Power Plant (VLCTPP) - have bagged orders to supply a total of 500 MW of power to the Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation Ltd (TNPDCL).
Under the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), MEL will supply 300 MW and VLCTPP will deliver 200 MW of power to TNPDCL. The five-year contract will run from February 1, 2026, to January 31, 2031, at a tariff of ₹5.38 per kWh.
According to Vedanta, the 500 MW allocation represents the largest share of the 1,580 MW tendered by TNPDCL. The company said the agreement strengthens its position in India’s power sector and underscores its commitment to supporting state utilities with reliable energy supply.
