VS Turbo commissiones new turbine production unit
VS Turbo, pioneer in manufacturing turbines for hydropower in Sri Lanka opened their new plant at Talduwa.
This is an investment of Rs. 120 million and will provide employment for 87 workers. The project is a 100% Sri Lankan investment.
Turbines produced at the VS Turbo factory are very high value added products. The turbines are built with German technology and are aimed at both the local and foreign markets.
The technology used in the manufacture is from Germany and is state-of-the-art. There are two main components of the turbine.
The main component is the 'Runner' which is made in Germany and the other component is called 'Spiral and casting' which is entirely made in Sri Lanka.
Two turbines have already been exported to Uganda while another five are currently being manufactured.
'This project is important to the BOI as it is in line with one of the major strategic objective of the BOI, which is to create conditions for technology transfer through investment,' Chairman/Director General of the BOI Dhammika Perera, who opened the new plant in Avissawella said.
