"West Bengal to get four new railway lines following approval from the Railway Ministry."

The Railway Ministry has approved four new railway line projects in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas and Nadia districts, a move aimed at strengthening connectivity near the India–Bangladesh border, an official said recently.

The proposed lines, with a combined length of over 53 km, are expected to support socio-economic development in the region, the Eastern Railway said in a statement.

The projects cleared include the Bangaon–Poramaheshtala line (20 km), Bangaon–Chandabazar (11.5 km), Chandabazar–Bagdah (13.8 km) and Ranaghat (Aranghata)–Duttaphulia (8.17 km).

According to the statement, the projects will improve strategic connectivity along the border, strengthening national security. Once operational, the new railway lines are also expected to boost trade and support local agriculture by enabling faster and more cost-effective transportation of goods.
