Wind power-generating units on the cards
Karachi: Caretaker Sindh Minister for Information, Environment, Information Technology and Renewable Energy Jam Karam Ali has said that efforts are been made establish wind power-generating units in the province. Speaking at a luncheon meeting, hosted by Honorary Consul General of Mozambique Khalid Tawab, at a local hotel, he said.
'Whatever small time we have on our disposal, we want to utilise it properly and make efforts to boost activities in renewable energy sector'. He said information technology was a very important sector, and added that the government giving it due importance to develop this sector on modern lines to meet international standards.
The minister said that he was very new in this department and trying to put the things in right direction. 'Due to very short time on our disposal, we cannot make major changes in policies,' he added.
He advised the business community to suggest practicable measures to improve IT sector Speaking on the occasion, former President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) S.M.Munir advised the minister to take some concrete policy steps, which might be remembered after he left as minister.
He said that Pakistan was facing acute shortage of power generation, and added that efforts should be made on fast track to tap all avenues of renewable energy.
Welcoming the guests, Khalid Tawab said that the business community liked to help their counterpart in interior of Sindh to boost trade and economic activities in the province.
