Work on Shirady Ghat stretch to start in November
Mangalore: The Karnataka Government has decided to start work on concreting of 26-km stretch of national highway on Shirady Ghat section in November.
Shirady Ghat section is the main road link between Mangalore and Bangalore. The project will be taken up with assistance from the Central Government at a cost of Rs 115 crore.
Also, about 35 roads in the city will be concreted at a cost of Rs 142 crore with financial assistance from the Karnataka Government and State Finance Commission. Of these roads, 85 per cent of work on concreting of 17 roads has been completed. Work is in progress on other roads.
The Government also has plans to set up a ‘revenue helpline centre’ at the office of the Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner in Mangalore. This centre will help the public and farmers in the district to get information on various issues related to the Revenue Department.
