WR opens new FOB at Virar.
Western Railway has opened a Foot Over Bridge at Virar North end for easier east-west movement of people.
This Foot Over Bridge is about 64 meter in length and 6.1 meter wide. People now have East-West connectivity and access to platform no 4 & 5 also. This FOB has been constructed at a cost of Rs. 2.39 crore.
Western Railway is providing more and more FOBs for safer and easier movement of commuters and to reduce trespassing. Western Railway has added more than 25 Foot Over Bridges in last 7 years. At present, there are 100 Foot Over Bridges including 76 railway & 24 BMC bridges and 8 Subways on WR Suburban section.
A massive increase in Foot Over Bridges on suburban section has also been planned. Work of construction of 12 new Foot Over Bridges is under progress at Dadar, Matunga, Santacruz, Andheri, Jogeshwari, Malad, Kandivali, Borivali, Nalasopara, Virar & 2 at Vasai Road and 2 subways at Bhayander and Naigaon stations. This will facilitate smooth movement of commuters and also help in reducing trespassing on tracks.
