Yokohama to set up mfg unit in Haryana

New Delhi: Tokyo-Based Yokohama Rubber Co is estimated to invest Rs 1,000 crore in Haryana over the next two years to set up a manufacturing facility in Bahadurgarh. This would mark the entry of Yokohama in the Indian tyre market.

“We have purchased land and are studying the Indian market. We are expecting to commence production in 14 months,” said Mr Sanjay Chatterjee, National Sales Manager, Yokohama India Private Ltd.

The company official declined to comment on the production capacity that the company was planning at the upcoming facility. “The business site acquisition of this time also forms a part of this activity and Yokohama Rubber plans to work out details on how to utilize the acquired site from now on. Meanwhile, Yokohama India has strengthened its effort to develop a market for Yokohama brand tyres by starting sales activities for replacement tyres for use in passenger cars through its own network in July 2007,” said a company release from Tokyo.
