Yuma Energy to Install Battery Swapping Network at 9 Stations on Mumbai Metro Line 3.

Yuma Energy has signed an agreement with Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation to install 22 battery swapping stations across nine stations on Mumbai Metro Line 3, the companies announced on Wednesday.

The battery swapping stations will cater to electric two-wheeler users, including gig workers, delivery riders and daily commuters, enabling them to exchange depleted batteries for fully charged ones without waiting for recharging.

Yuma Energy currently supports more than 13,000 vehicles in Mumbai and facilitates over 20,000 battery swaps daily through its existing network in the city.

The partnership has been structured under MMRC’s Non-Fare Box Revenue (NFBR) initiative, which allows the corporation to generate revenue from station infrastructure beyond ticketing operations. By integrating battery swapping stations within metro premises, MMRC aims to position the facilities as feeder services connecting electric two-wheeler mobility with the city’s public rail transit network.
