Zoho-Backed Silectric Semiconductor Announces ₹3,425 Crore Investment in Karnataka.
Silectric Semiconductor Manufacturing Pvt Ltd has announced a ₹3,425.60 crore investment in Karnataka’s first electronics manufacturing cluster at Kochanahalli near Mysuru. The project is expected to create 460 jobs and marks a significant step in boosting the state’s electronics and semiconductor ecosystem.
The announcement came during the 64th State High-Level Clearance Committee (SHLCC) meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, where 10 industrial proposals worth a total of ₹9,823 crore were approved. These projects are expected to generate over 5,600 jobs across various sectors.
In addition to Silectric Semiconductor, two other new investment projects received approval:
- DN Solutions India Private Ltd: A ₹998 crore investment at the ITIR, Devanahalli, projected to create 467 jobs.
- Sansera Engineering Ltd: A ₹2,150 crore project at Harohalli, expected to generate 3,500 jobs.
The SHLCC also approved six expansion or amended investment proposals worth ₹3,249.7 crore, which will collectively create 1,178 jobs. Key projects include:
- Musashi Autoparts India Pvt Ltd: ₹122.66 crore investment at Doddaballapura, generating 478 jobs.
- JSW Cement Ltd: ₹486.82 crore project at Toranagal, Ballari, adding 225 jobs.
- NIDEC Industrial Automation India Pvt Ltd: ₹200 crore investment at Belur, Dharwad, creating 150 jobs.
- Epsilon Carbon Pvt Ltd: ₹740 crore expansion at Sandur, generating 325 jobs.
- K B Steels Pvt Ltd: ₹852.49 crore investment at Hosapete, Vijayanagara.
- Sify Data Managed Services Ltd: ₹847.74 crore project at the High-Tech Defence and Aerospace Park.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah emphasized the significance of the Kochanahalli cluster as Karnataka's first semiconductor project and highlighted the government’s plans to introduce a new Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) policy. The government has allocated 234 acres of land at Kochanahalli, near Kadakola in Mysuru, for the cluster, aiming to position Karnataka as a leader in electronics and semiconductor manufacturing.
The meeting also explored additional initiatives, including profit-sharing mechanisms between sugar mills and farmers, showcasing the state’s focus on inclusive growth and innovation.
