"30-Foot Statue of Bhagat Singh to Be Unveiled at Chandigarh Airport on September 28"
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will inaugurate a 30-foot tall statue of Bhagat Singh at Chandigarh International Airport on September 28, marking the birth anniversary of the celebrated freedom fighter, according to an official statement.
At a meeting on Thursday, Mann highlighted that the statue, crafted from gunmetal, features an aesthetically pleasing design. He expressed hope that the monument will inspire younger generations to serve the nation with dedication.
Mann emphasized that the statue serves as a fitting tribute to Bhagat Singh and will help preserve the legacy of the renowned martyr. The Chief Minister noted that, due to the state government's efforts, the international airport has already been renamed in honor of Shaheed Bhagat Singh.
He stressed the importance of naming airports, universities, and other institutions after iconic martyrs to uphold their legacy and motivate the youth towards selfless service. The statue will play a significant role in reminding visitors from the Punjabi diaspora and other states of Bhagat Singh’s sacrifices and contributions.
Mann added that the statue will also serve as a reminder of Bhagat Singh's heroism and his commitment to socialism and justice, impacting commuters from neighboring states such as Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Jammu-Kashmir.
