Ampvolts to Establish 17 EV Charging Hubs Across Western India in Partnership with Cholamandalam Leasing Ltd.

Ampvolts Limited, a leading electric vehicle infrastructure provider in India, has announced plans to develop and operate 17 high-capacity EV charging hubs across industrial and logistics corridors in Western India in partnership with Cholamandalam Leasing Limited.

The infrastructure will support the deployment of Montra Electric RHINO 5538 electric trucks, enabling long-haul electric freight movement at scale. The initiative aims to address one of the key bottlenecks in heavy-duty EV adoption—reliable and high-capacity charging infrastructure for long-distance trucking operations.

Shri Jalaj Gupta, Managing Director of Montra Electric (TI Clean Mobility Pvt. Ltd.), said the project marks a milestone in green freight mobility. “This is the country’s first long-haul green freight corridor we are going to operate, and we are happy to enhance our association with Ampvolts Limited,” he said.

The 17 charging hubs will be deployed across strategic freight routes in Western India and are designed to support multi-fleet operations for logistics service providers. Ampvolts said the network, backed by over 18 months of operational experience, will enable seamless electric truck movement while improving fleet efficiency and reducing operational uncertainty.

According to the company, the initiative is expected to support corporates in meeting sustainability targets by enabling Scope-3 emission reductions, while also reducing dependence on fossil fuels. It will also improve uptime and reduce range anxiety for fleet operators, thereby enhancing revenue potential.

Ampvolts Managing Director Vipul Chauhan said the company aims to execute the project in record time, potentially setting a national benchmark for EV charging infrastructure deployment. He added that the initiative will help bridge the gap between market demand and sustainable logistics solutions while maintaining operational viability.

The company estimates that the project could reduce around 650,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually. The development comes at a time when India’s heavy-duty electric truck segment is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of around 55 per cent through FY2030, supported by government initiatives such as PM E-DRIVE, FAME II, and subsidies for e-trucks.

Despite strong policy support, adoption of electric trucks has been constrained by infrastructure gaps and operational challenges. The Ampvolts–Cholamandalam Leasing initiative is expected to address these issues by combining charging infrastructure with fleet support systems and multi-logistics service provider integration.

For large corporates, the project also supports Scope-3 emission reduction goals, particularly in supply chains where transportation accounts for 15–25 per cent of total emissions, while aligning with India’s net-zero commitments and emerging global carbon regulations.

Ecosystem partners including Montra Electric (TI Clean Mobility Pvt. Ltd.) and VerdeMobility are also part of the initiative, providing fleet lifecycle support and advanced charging solutions to ensure operational efficiency and future scalability.
