Andhra Pradesh to Develop New Railway Line for Amaravati with ₹2,245 Crore Investment.

The Railways will construct a new railway line connecting Amaravati, the new capital of Andhra Pradesh, with an estimated investment of ₹2,245 crore, announced Union Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw. Speaking via video conference from Delhi, with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu participating from Amaravati, Vaishnaw outlined that this new line will enhance connectivity between Amaravati and major cities across the state.

The project includes the construction of a 57 km railway line, featuring a 3.2 km bridge over the Krishna River. Vaishnaw noted that development works are currently underway at 73 railway stations throughout Andhra Pradesh.

Additionally, a multimodal cargo terminal will be established in Paritala, and critical railway lines in the state are being upgraded to accommodate speeds of up to 160 km/h. The minister also mentioned the upgrade of three key corridors: Amaravati-Hyderabad, Amaravati-Chennai, and Amaravati-Bengaluru, which he believes will facilitate new industries and improve public transport.

Chief Minister Naidu emphasized that the new rail connectivity to Hyderabad will significantly reduce travel time to major cities, boosting business and industry in the region. He also highlighted the long-pending creation of the Visakha Railway Zone, which he views as essential for the state’s growth.
