"AP Cabinet sanctions ₹7,387-crore NABARD loan for major Amaravati development works."

The Andhra Pradesh cabinet recently approved a range of infrastructure initiatives for the state capital Amaravati and other key projects across the state, including a ₹7,387.70-crore loan from NABARD.

Among the approvals, the cabinet sanctioned the award of a contract to the L-1 bidder for constructing a flood pumping station under the World Bank and ADB-financed development programme. It also cleared the award of a contract to L&T for building the Amaravati Quantum Computing Centre (AQCC) and approved various other development works in Zone-8.

The revenue department received clearance to lease 9.96 acres of government land in Nuzividu, Eluru district, for 33 years to the horticulture and sericulture department to establish the Indian Institute of Plantation Management. Additionally, a three-year lease of 9.88 acres in Katrenikona, Dr BR Ambedkar Konaseema district, for Vedanta’s onshore drilling activities was renewed. The cabinet also approved the transfer of 28.37 acres in Daminedu village, Tirupati district, to the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh for a sports city.

Other significant approvals included the establishment of a greenfield port and shipbuilding cluster at Duggarajupatnam, acquisition of 418.14 acres in Damavaram village for the Dagadarthi greenfield airport, and a waiver of ₹41.61 crore in interest for 11,479 beneficiaries under NSFDC and NSKFDC. The cabinet also endorsed the implementation of prepaid smart metering across government departments to enable additional borrowing linked to GSDP performance.

These decisions mark a major push by the state government to advance infrastructure development, promote investment, and strengthen public utilities across Andhra Pradesh.
