Ashwini Vaishnaw Inaugurates TDK's ₹3,000 Crore Li-ion Battery Plant in Haryana.

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw inaugurated a new lithium-ion battery plant for the Japanese firm TDK Corporation in Sohna, Haryana, recently. The factory represents an initial investment of ₹3,000 crore and is part of the Indian government's strategy to deepen the country's electronics manufacturing value chain.

The new facility will produce lithium-ion battery packs for a wide range of devices, including mobile phones, smartwatches, earbuds, and laptops. "The lithium-ion batteries... will now be manufactured in India in this very advanced plant of TDK Corporation," Vaishnaw stated at the event. He added that the plant is expected to produce approximately 20 crore battery packs annually.

The inauguration underscores a push to build a robust domestic electronics ecosystem, reducing reliance on imports and strengthening India's position in the global tech market.
