Bharat Dynamics setting up torpedo production centre

Visakhapatnam: The Bharat Dynamics, Hyderabad, is setting up a torpedo production centre here in a year or so, according to Dr V. Bhujanaga Rao, the Director of the Naval Science and Technological Laboratory (NSTL).

He was speaking at a press meet on the occasion of a two-day national seminar on acoustics and noise suppression technologies organised jointly by NSTL and the Acoustical Society of India.

Dr Rao said NSTL was mainly working on lightweight and heavyweight torpedoes and Bharat Dynamics was producing torpedoes based on the designs and technologies provided by the lab.

“The company has decided to set up an additional production centre here and the land has been acquired. It may go on stream in six months to one year,” he explained.
