"Bharat Forge signs its largest-ever small arms deal with the Indian Ministry of Defence."

The Ministry of Defence has awarded Bharat Forge Ltd (BFL) a contract worth ₹1,661.9 crore for the supply of 2,55,128 close-quarter battle (CQB) carbines to the Indian Army.

The contract, signed on December 30, 2025, will be executed over a period of five years. The 5.56×45 mm CQB Carbine is an indigenously designed, developed and manufactured (IDDM) weapon, jointly developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation’s Armament Research and Development Establishment and Bharat Forge at its Pune facility.

Bharat Forge said the order is in line with the government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative. The company added that, along with its wholly owned defence subsidiary Kalyani Strategic Systems Ltd, it remains committed to delivering domestically manufactured defence equipment to India’s armed forces.
