BPCL, OIL Partner for City Gas Distribution in Arunachal Pradesh.
Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) and Oil India Limited (OIL) have signed a joint venture agreement to develop city gas distribution (CGD) infrastructure in Arunachal Pradesh. The agreement was formalized today at BPCL’s corporate office in Mumbai, with senior executives from both companies in attendance.
The new joint venture will focus on establishing a comprehensive network, including Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stations and a Piped Natural Gas (PNG) supply system. This will serve residential, commercial, and industrial customers throughout the state, providing a cleaner and more efficient energy source.
This project follows the BPCL-OIL consortium's successful bid in the 12th City Gas Distribution Bid Round, which was overseen by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board.
BPCL Chairman and Managing Director Sanjay Khanna highlighted the company's commitment to expanding access to clean energy in India's northeastern region. “This initiative will drive sustainable growth and improve the quality of life for the people of Arunachal Pradesh,” he said.
OIL Chairman Ranjit Rath noted the company’s long-standing presence in the state through its hydrocarbon production. He also mentioned the recent commissioning of the Kumchai-Kusijan gas pipeline last year, which he said further strengthens their regional footprint.
