Centre Sanctions ₹6,585 Crore for Development of Seven National Highway Projects in Andhra Pradesh, Says Minister.
Andhra Pradesh Roads and Buildings Minister B.C. Janardhan Reddy announced on Thursday that the Central government has sanctioned ₹6,585 crore for the development of seven national highway projects spanning 384 kilometers in the state. The projects include routes between Kodumuru-Pericherla, Sangameshwaram-Nallakaluva, Nandyal-Kurnool, Vempally-Chagalamarri, Gorantla-Hindupur, Muddanuru-B Kothapalli, and Pendurthy-Bavardha.
Reddy highlighted that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu played a crucial role in securing these funds by coordinating with officials from the Prime Minister's Office and the Union Ministry of Road Transport.
"These seven projects, initially allocated to Andhra Pradesh under the Bharat Mala project, faced delays for various reasons. However, my recent efforts, including a meeting with Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, have led to significant progress," Reddy stated during a press conference at the Secretariat.
He further mentioned that the Standing Finance Committee has now removed these projects from the Bharat Mala initiative and included them in the National Highways Ordinary Programme, paving the way for their swift implementation.
