China’s Envision Group Considers Battery Plant in India Amid Rising Energy Storage Demand.

China’s Envision Group is exploring plans to set up a battery manufacturing facility in India, aiming to capitalize on government initiatives to modernize the country’s power grid for increased renewable energy integration.

Suman Nag, Envision’s global head for contracts, told reporters that once the market matures, the company plans to establish a 5 gigawatt-hour-per-year unit with an investment of $34 million. The facility would import battery cells from China while locally producing racks and developing the necessary software infrastructure, positioning Envision to expand its footprint in India’s emerging energy storage sector.
