CIL Eyes 20 MT Boost in Eco-Friendly Coal Transport via First Mile Connectivity in FY26.
State-run coal giant Coal India (CIL) is set to significantly enhance its eco-friendly coal transportation efforts, aiming to move an additional 20 million tonnes (mt) of coal through its First Mile Connectivity (FMC) projects during the current fiscal year, FY26. These projects are seamlessly integrated with the Indian Railway network, promoting a more sustainable mode of transport.
The company has set a target to transport approximately 125 mt of coal via FMC projects in FY26. This marks a substantial increase compared to the 102.5 mt transported through this environmentally conscious method in the previous fiscal year, FY25.
CIL's commitment to FMC projects has already demonstrated impressive growth. Coal transportation through its network of 20 FMC projects witnessed a robust increase of approximately 34 percent in the last financial year (FY25) compared to the 76.5 mt transported through 17 FMC projects in FY24. This consistent growth underscores CIL's strategic shift towards more efficient and greener logistical solutions for coal dispatch.
