"Delhi RRTS Viaduct Construction Set for Completion by End of April"

The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) announced on Friday that the construction of the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) viaduct in the Delhi section is on track to be completed by the end of April.

Officials stated that track-laying activities, as well as electric traction and signalling work, are currently in progress in the New Ashok Nagar-Sahibabad section.

The completion of the Delhi section, slated for the end of this year, will enable trial runs between Delhi and Sahibabad, according to NCRTC officials.

With less than 500 meters of the viaduct left for construction in the Delhi section, the final stretch is expected to be finished by the month's end. The Delhi section spans approximately 14 kilometers, including nine kilometers of elevated section and five kilometers of underground section.

More than eight kilometers of viaduct construction has already been completed, along with the entire underground section of about five kilometers. Additionally, the mainline RRTS stations of Sarai Kale Khan, New Ashok Nagar, and Anand Vihar (underground) are nearing completion, with finishing works currently underway.

Once the Delhi section is operational, passenger movement can be established from Sarai Kale Khan to the existing Sahibabad-Modi Nagar North section and beyond.

The RRTS network includes a five-kilometer-long underground section in Delhi, with four tunnels constructed to connect the Anand Vihar underground station with the New Ashok Nagar RRTS station in the Delhi direction and the Sahibabad RRTS station in the Ghaziabad direction.

The RRTS tunnels, with a diameter of 6.5 meters, are optimized for a design speed of 180 kmph, aligning with global benchmarks for similar projects.

Multi-modal integration is a key focus of RRTS implementation, aligning with the Prime Minister's Gatishakti National Master Plan. This integration strategy aims to enhance connectivity between various transportation modes, including bus stands, airports, metro stations, and railway stations, to provide convenient and seamless travel experiences within the NCR.

Special features at the Sarai Kale Khan station include four tracks and six platforms at the same level, along with a foot overbridge and travelators connecting to the Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station. Similarly, the New Ashok Nagar RRTS station is linked to the Ashok Nagar Metro station with additional foot overbridges under construction to improve accessibility.
