DRDO to Issue AMCA Tender Soon; HAL Prepares Consortium Bid.
The Defence Research and Development Organisation's (DRDO) Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) is expected to issue an Expression of Interest (EOI) within the next few weeks. The EOI aims to invite bids from potential production partners for India's ambitious 5.5 generation Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) project. This move comes as the first prototype of the stealth fighter is slated for rollout between 2026 and 2027.
Sources indicate that the ADA's EOI will actively engage with the burgeoning indigenous aerospace sector. This initiative seeks to provide Indian companies with significant opportunities to become integral to the manufacturing and supply chain of the advanced AMCA.
Several Indian firms have already established themselves as key suppliers of world-class body parts, systems, sub-systems, and components to leading global aircraft manufacturers such as Boeing and Airbus. These include prominent names like Tata Advanced Systems Ltd (TASL), L&T, Mahindra Aerospace, Dynamatic Technologies, Bharat Forge, Sansera Engineering, Azad Engineering, Aequs, and Godrej Aerospace. Their proven capabilities position them well to contribute to the AMCA program.
