Emami's Guwahati plant to go on stream this fiscal.

Kolkata-based FMCG major Emami Ltd. will look to make operational its greenfield facility in Guwahati by the end of this fiscal.

Coming up at an estimated cost of ₹300 crore, this will be the company’s third facility in the region.

“We are augmenting our manufacturing capacity by investing around ₹300 crore in the new Guwahati plant. It is expected to be operational by FY17,” Harsh V Agarwal, Director, Emami Ltd., said in a press release.

The company reported an over 52 per cent dip in standalone net profit to ₹64 crore for the quarter ending March 2016, against ₹132 crore in the previous year period. The dip in Q4 net follows the amortisation of intangibles of ₹73 crore post acquisition of Kesh King. Emami had acquired Kesh King and allied brands in June 2015 for ₹1,684 crore.

On a consolidated basis, net profit dipped nearly 45 per cent to ₹76 crore (₹138 crore).
