Essar Projects Limited bags USD 600 million contract from global minerals major, Glencore.

Essar Projects Limited has been awarded a USD 600 million contract by Sphere Minerals, a subsidiary of Glencore Xstrata, one of the world's largest global diversified natural resource companies. The EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) contract for a 7.5 MTPA iron ore beneficiation plant, in Mauritania, in western North Africa, will be delivered by Projects (EPL) Minerals & Metals (M&M) SBU.

The mine-head beneficiation plant project will include associated facilities, a primary crusher, secondary crusher, dry magnetic separator, high pressure grinding rolls and auxiliary facilities, and will be executed at the Sphere Minerals’ Askaf Iron Mines in Mauritania.

'This contract is the culmination of an intensive joint effort by Essar and Sphere Minerals, and builds on Essar's well-established expertise in delivering iron ore beneficiation plants, slurry lines, and pellet plants as well as fully integrated steel plants in diverse locations such as India, Africa and USA,' said AV Amarnath, CEO-M&M SBU, EPL.
