"Greater Noida Phase 2 Development to Prioritize Industrial Sector"

The upcoming Greater Noida Phase 2, covering an expansive area of 40,000 hectares, has outlined an ambitious 2041 master plan with an emphasis on industrial growth and environmental conservation. Key components of the plan include dedicated corridors for freight transportation and trucker points at all entry and exit points in the city.

The Greater Noida Authority (GNIDA) recently conducted a meeting with various stakeholders to discuss these proposals. After incorporating their suggestions, the master plan will undergo approval by the GNIDA board and the state government.

Additionally, the plan includes underground power cables, utility corridors, and the development of plantations around water bodies. An electricity master plan will be formulated, with the Noida Power Company Limited (NPCL) overseeing its implementation. The plan also prioritizes solid waste management and sewage treatment facilities, along with special utility corridors to reduce the need for frequent road excavation during maintenance work.

Efforts to combat pollution will be a central theme of the master plan, with the pollution control board conducting studies and proposing measures. Preserving natural ponds and water sources without disruption will be integral to these initiatives, as well as the protection of natural drainage systems. A minimum 50-meter buffer zone will be designated for plantation around construction sites to reduce pollution.

Ravi Kumar NG, CEO of GNIDA, emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in planning a clean and pollution-free city, inviting suggestions from all stakeholders and the public, with a public input session scheduled for November 8.

Notable officials from various authorities and organizations, including the Yamuna Expressway Authority, Bulandshahr Development Authority, Hapur-Pilkhua Development Authority, NCR Planning Board, Jal Nigam, National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), UP State Road Transport Corporation, and NPCL, among others, have contributed their suggestions to the master plan.

Greater Noida Phase 1 already spans 31,733 hectares, and the completion of Phase 2 will expand the city's total area to 71,000 hectares, encompassing 140 additional villages. The estimated population of the entire city is projected to reach 40 lakhs by 2041.
