India-Bhutan Check Post at Land Port Darranga Set to Inaugurate on November 7.
To enhance India-Bhutan relations, the Immigration Check Post (ICP) at Land Port Darranga, Assam, will be inaugurated on November 7. Located just 700 meters from the Bhutanese border, the ICP symbolizes both nations' commitment to strengthening regional connectivity and economic cooperation.
The inauguration ceremony will be attended by Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya and Bhutan’s Prime Minister Dasho Tshering Tobgay.
Spanning 14.5 acres, the ICP is equipped with modern facilities designed to facilitate smoother cross-border travel and trade. Its strategic location, complemented by improved infrastructure along National Highway 27 and Bhutan’s strengthened customs framework, aims to enhance operational efficiency.
The ICP is expected to drive trade growth, especially with Bhutan's expanding industrial sector, including outputs from Mottanga. The "Samjong" brand and markets in Samdrup-Jongkhar highlight the deepening economic and cultural ties between the two countries.
Serving as both a commercial hub and immigration checkpoint, ICP Darranga will contribute to local economic growth while strengthening international ties. The development of the port underscores the shared vision for prosperity and solidifies the foundation for cross-border trade and movement.
The inauguration marks a significant milestone in India-Bhutan relations, serving as a symbol of mutual cooperation and an important step toward regional integration.
