Japan to fund two projects in Sri Lanka
Colombo: The Japanese Government will provide Rs 10 million for an agricultural and livelihood project in Moneragala and Rs 3 million for a health project in Polonnaruwa district of Sri Lanka.
The Project for to renovate three roads, construct an anicut, improve a fruit processing facility, promote fruits production and to facilitate a water scheme in three Divisional Secretariat Divisions of Moneragala District will be implemented by the Lower Uva Development Centre .
The Project for Construction of Drinking Wells and Toilets for Resettled families in Medirigiriya, Polonnaruwa District will be implemented by the Arunodaya Rural Development Federation Medirigiriya.
The Japanese Government funds Non-Governmental Organizations and Governmental agencies through its Grant Assistance for Grass roots Human Security Projects (GGP) to fulfill urgent needs of all the communities at grassroots level.
This scheme has been in operation in Sri Lanka since 1989 and has provided funding assistance to 197 projects at a total value of approximately Rs. 2,750 million for development and humanitarian projects.
