JSW Group Aims to Lure Japanese, Korean Firms to Bengal Industrial Park: Jindal.
The Sajjan Jindal-led JSW Group announced on Monday its ambitious plan to attract Japanese and Korean companies to its upcoming industrial park in Salboni, West Bengal. The move comes as many firms from these nations seek alternative manufacturing bases amidst the ongoing trade friction between the United States and China.
Speaking to reporters at the foundation stone-laying ceremony of JSW Energy's 1,600 MW (2x800 MW) ultra supercritical thermal power plant in Salboni, JSW Group Chairman Sajjan Jindal highlighted the strategic timing of the proposed industrial park. Situated alongside the power plant in the state's West Medinipur district, the park aims to offer plug-and-play facilities for various industries.
"We are trying to attract Japanese and Korean companies to set up units in the industrial park here," Jindal stated. "Especially after the US-China spat that is going on now, lots of Korean and Japanese industries, which are in China and export to the US, are looking for a home for themselves. We are going to attract them here."
The co-location of the industrial park with the thermal power plant is expected to provide a reliable and cost-effective power supply, further enhancing its appeal to potential investors. JSW's initiative underscores the growing trend of companies exploring diversification of their supply chains and manufacturing locations in response to geopolitical developments.
