Karnataka Cabinet Approves C&D Waste Project, Irrigation and Infrastructure Works Worth Thousands of Crores.
The Karnataka Cabinet recently approved a series of major projects, including a large-scale construction and demolition (C&D) waste management initiative within the Greater Bengaluru Authority limits, sources said.
The C&D waste project, to be implemented under a public-private partnership (PPP) model for 15 years, aims to collect, transport, and process 2,250 metric tonnes of waste per day through three packages of 750 tonnes each. The project is estimated to cost ₹1,714.83 crore and is intended to strengthen scientific waste management across the Bengaluru metropolitan region.
In infrastructure developments, the Cabinet cleared the construction of a 2.03-km elevated corridor in Belagavi city, connecting NH-48 to Dharmaveer Sambhaji Circle via Ashok Circle, Sangolli Rayanna Circle, and Kittur Rani Chennamma Circle. Estimated at ₹275.53 crore, the project seeks to ease traffic congestion and improve urban mobility.
The Cabinet also approved administrative measures for the replacement of Horizontal Split Case pumps under Phase-10 of the Cauvery Water Supply Scheme at TK Halli, Harohalli, and Tataguni, at a cost of ₹49.30 crore. Additionally, comprehensive operation and maintenance (O&M) of the 550 MLD water treatment plant at Stage-II of Phase-IV of the Cauvery scheme was sanctioned for five years at ₹38.33 crore.
In irrigation, a ₹210 crore lift irrigation project was approved to supply water from the Krishna River to the Raibag High Level Distribution Canal (RHLD) and Raibag Distribution Canals, benefiting command areas in Raibag and Chikkodi taluks of Belagavi district. The Cabinet also granted administrative approval for the revised estimate of ₹1,503 crore for the Kerur Lift Irrigation Project in Bagalkote district, covering parts of Badami and Bilagi Assembly constituencies.
These approvals highlight the state government’s focus on enhancing urban infrastructure, waste management, and irrigation facilities across Karnataka.
