Malaysian CIDB to develop mega township in Kerala

Kozhikode: The Kerala government today reached an accord with Malaysia to establish a Rs 2,500-crore satellite township at Kinalur near here.

The agreement between Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) and Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB), Malaysia, was signed by KSIDC Managing Director P H Kurien and CIDB Chief Executive Officer Hamzah bin Hasan in the presence of Malaysian Works Minister Samy Vellu and state Industries Minister Elamaram Karim.

The mega infrastructure project, comprising knowledge-based industries, medical city and entertainment centres, would offer jobs to more than 25,000 people directly and indirectly, Karim said.

Vellu said the collaboration would help in bringing greater co-operation and understanding between the two countries. The multi-crore integrated industrial park is expected to be implemented in the next five years, for which the KSIDC had acquired over 275 acres.
