Malaysian firm keen to work with Indian Cos

New Delhi: Salcon Engineering Berhad, a Malaysian water engineering company, expects to win its first project in India by next year and is looking forward to work with Tatas and Satyam Group in the country.

'Salcon Engineering Bhd hopes to secure its first job in India next year,' Malaysian newspaper 'The Star' reported in its web edition, quoting the company CEO How See Hock.

'There is a huge potential for water and wastewater in India. We will be working with conglomerates like the Satyam Group and Tata Group,' Hock said.

The integrated water player, which currently operates in five countries, is in the midst of opening an office in India, the report said.

'Water is essential and cannot be ignored. While governments can defer spending, there is still a lot of room to play with, How See said. Its expensive to change all the pipes,' the report quoted Salcon Engineering CEO as saying.

As very less clean water is available, Salcon would use Membrane technology, which uses a filtration system, treats highly polluted water to make it usable again, the report said.

Salcon Engineering Berhad, is listed on the Main Board of the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange.
