Metro Rail Extension in Phase-I.

Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) managing director Elias George said the Kochi metro rail will be extended to Tripunithura in the first phase of the project itself.

He was addressing the media after discussions with Rail India Technical and Economic Service (Rites) officials held at the KMRL office in Kochi.

'As per the preliminary findings of Rites, the metro rail will be extended from Pettah to SAIL through SN Junction along the Kochi-Dhanushkodi highway. The estimated cost of the expansion is `200 crore. We will hold talks with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and ask them to take up the work in the first phase itself,' he said.
