Nitish Kumar Inaugurates Multiple Infrastructure Projects in Purnia.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, on his visit to Purnia as part of the Pragati Yatra, announced several significant development initiatives for the district recently. One of the most notable projects is the conversion of the Dhamdaha-Purnia state highway (SH)-65 into a four-lane road, which will be directly linked to the forthcoming Purnia airport. The government has also allocated an additional 52 acres of land for the airport's expansion.

Among other key announcements, the CM revealed plans to construct an interstate bus terminus in Purnia and build office complexes for 10 blocks and circle offices across the district. The offices will serve the regions of Amour, Kasba, Krityanand Nagar, Dhamdaha, Purnia, Banmankhi, Rupauli, Bayasi, Baisa, and Badaharakothi.

The CM made these announcements during a review of ongoing developmental activities at the newly constructed Mahananda Auditorium in the collectorate. He also unveiled a plaque marking the expansion of the auditorium.

Further, the CM outlined plans for a bypass road from Bhutaha Mor on NH-107 to SH-60 and the development of a sports complex at Rangbhoomi Maidan in Purnia town. Nitish Kumar also granted state recognition to the annual fair at Ma Kamakhya Devi Mandir in Krityanand Nagar and shared plans to renovate and beautify the Ma Puandevi Mandir campus, including the construction of an approach road.

Additionally, Kajha Kothi on the Purnia-Dhamdaha state highway will be developed as a tourist destination. To address annual flooding, a new embankment will be constructed along the Kari-Kosi river to provide flood protection.

In the review meeting, Purnia District Magistrate Kundan Kumar presented updates on completed and ongoing projects, highlighting initiatives aimed at improving urban infrastructure in Purnia and neighboring towns. The CM also emphasized the development of various institutes, including a medical college and hospital, an engineering college, paramedical institutes, industrial training institutes, polytechnic colleges, and a hostel for students from extremely backward caste (EBC) groups.

“The central government has been immensely supportive of our developmental schemes,” CM Nitish Kumar stated, recalling his continued partnership with the BJP since the time of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. “I believe in work and inclusivity, and do not discriminate against anyone,” he added.

The review meeting was attended by Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary, ministers Vijay Kumar Choudhary and Leshi Singh, local MP Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav, MLAs Akhtarul Iman, Afaque Alam, Krishna Kumar Rishi, Vijay Kumar Khemka, Syed Rukanuddin, and Shankar Singh, along with senior officials.
