NMPT conducts trade meet to boost port traffic
Mangalore: New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT), in association with Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT), organised a trade meet at Bangalore on May 24 to start container service between these ports.
An NMPT release said here on Thursday that JNPT has agreed to provide window at shallow water berth for this purpose.
The trade meet stressed the need to transport boxes using coastal movement from New Mangalore Port to Jawaharlal Nehru Port.
The release claimed that the handling charges of containers at NMPT are the lowest in the country. New Mangalore Port is also offering 25 per cent concession on vessel-related charges to attract more feeder lines.
Mr Ravi B. Budhiraja, JNPT Chairman; Mr P. Tamilvananm NMPT Chairman; Mr S. Babu, FKCCI President; Mr Y.N. Babu, General Manager of CONCOR; and Mr M.A. Bhaskarachar, Deputy Chairman of NMPT, attended the meeting.
