PepsiCo to Set Up Manufacturing Plant in Mannapparai, Tamil Nadu.

PepsiCo, the US-based multinational snack and beverage giant, is establishing a new manufacturing plant in Mannapparai, near Tiruchirapalli, Tamil Nadu. The company has been allotted 28 acres at the SIPCOT Industrial Park, where it will produce various snack items, including potato chips, according to sources.

Mannapparai, traditionally known for its famous ‘murukku,’ is being promoted by the Tamil Nadu government as a major food park. PepsiCo’s expansion in the state aligns with its ongoing efforts to scale up its snacks manufacturing capacity across India.

In 2023, the company announced a ₹778 crore investment in a new plant in Assam, expected to commence operations by 2025 or early 2026. Additionally, PepsiCo has made significant investments in Uttar Pradesh, where it operates one of its largest greenfield food plants.

Mannapparai is also attracting major investments from global firms, with JABIL, a key supplier to Apple, Cisco, and HP, setting up an electronics manufacturing facility worth ₹2,000 crore. The project is expected to create over 5,000 jobs, following a memorandum of understanding signed with the Tamil Nadu government in September 2024.
