Petronet plans to double terminal capacity

New Delhi: Petronet LNG, India's largest liquefied natural gas importer, may shut its Dahej import terminal in October to link new units that will double the terminal capacity.

'We need to take a four-to-five-day shutdown to hook up new facilities. It will happen in October but the dates are not yet fixed,' a company source said.

The five million tonnes a year Dahej terminal may be shut in third week of October with 14 to 19 being talked as possible dates.

'These are tentative dates and we are yet to fix a shutdown schedule,' he said.

By the year-end, Dahej terminal capacity is to be doubled to 10 million tonnes.

The shutdown will link new storage tanks, pipelines and regassifiers to the existing facility.
