PM Modi to Unveil ₹5,400 Crore Gujarat Development Package and Major Green Mobility Initiatives

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Gujarat on August 25–26, where he will launch and inaugurate a wide range of development projects covering railways, roads, power distribution, urban infrastructure and digital governance. The combined value of projects to be inaugurated, dedicated or initiated in Ahmedabad is estimated at ₹5,400 crore.

On August 25, the Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay foundation stones for several projects at Khodaldham Ground in Ahmedabad. The programme includes railway projects worth more than ₹1,400 crore, aimed at improving regional connectivity and supporting passenger and freight movement. Key works include doubling the 65-km Mahesana–Palanpur rail section, gauge conversion projects and improvements to rail connectivity between Katosan Road, Bechraji and other locations.

Road infrastructure will also receive a major boost, with widening of the Viramgam–Khudad–Rampura road and new six-lane underpasses and railway overbridges planned along important transport corridors. These projects are expected to improve traffic movement, enhance safety and support industrial activity.

Power infrastructure projects worth over ₹1,000 crore across Ahmedabad, Mehsana and Gandhinagar will modernise electricity distribution networks, reduce technical losses and improve supply reliability.

The programme also covers slum rehabilitation, water and sewerage infrastructure, road widening and digital governance facilities, including a new Stamps and Registration Building and a state-level data storage centre.

On August 26, the focus will shift to green mobility and domestic manufacturing. At Suzuki’s Hansalpur facility, Modi will inaugurate production of hybrid battery electrodes and flag off the e VITARA, Suzuki’s first global strategic battery-electric vehicle. Manufactured in India, the EV will be exported to more than 100 countries, strengthening India’s position as Suzuki’s global EV manufacturing hub.

The local battery-electrode production is expected to raise the share of battery value manufactured domestically to more than 80%, reinforcing India’s ambitions for self-reliance in clean-energy manufacturing.
