PM Modi Unveils Development Projects Worth Over ₹7,600 Crore in Maharashtra.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually laid the foundation stone for a series of development projects worth over ₹7,600 crore in Maharashtra on Wednesday. These initiatives include the upgradation of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport in Nagpur and the construction of a New Integrated Terminal Building at Shirdi Airport.
The upgradation of Nagpur’s airport, with an estimated cost of ₹7,000 crore, is expected to drive growth in key sectors like manufacturing, aviation, tourism, logistics, and healthcare, benefiting both Nagpur and the Vidarbha region. The new terminal at Shirdi Airport, costing ₹645 crore, will enhance facilities for religious tourists visiting Shirdi. Its design is inspired by the spiritual Neem tree of Saibaba.
In addition, PM Modi inaugurated the Indian Institute of Skills (IIS) Mumbai and the Vidya Samiksha Kendra in Maharashtra. The IIS Mumbai, developed in collaboration with the Tata Education and Development Trust, aims to create an industry-ready workforce through advanced training in fields like mechatronics, AI, data analytics, and robotics. The Vidya Samiksha Kendra will provide schools with valuable insights through tools like Smart Upasthiti and Swadhyay, helping improve resource management and strengthen communication between parents, schools, and the state.
The Prime Minister also launched 10 new government medical colleges located in Mumbai, Nashik, Jalna, Amravati, Gadchiroli, Buldhana, Washim, Bhandara, Hingoli, and Ambernath. These institutions will boost undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and enhance access to specialized healthcare across the state.
