Power project worth $2.7bn completed in Rabigh.
Saudi Arabian Deputy Minister for Electricity Dr. Saleh Al-Awaji has inaugurated a $2.7bn (SAR 10bn) power project in the city of Rabigh.
The 1,204 megawatt (MW) project is the first independent privately-funded facility of its kind in the country.
Dr. Abdullah Al-Shehri, Governor of the Electricity and Co-Generation Regulatory Authority (ECRA), Eng Ziad Al-Shiha, chief executive officer of Saudi Electricity Co. (SEC), Eng Thamer Al-Sharhan, chairman of Rabigh Arabian Water and Electricity Co. (RAWEC), and some officials of water and electricity sectors also attended at the inauguration ceremony.
Rabigh independent power plant is among a range of mega power projects designed to meet the rapidly growing demand for electricity in Saudi Arabia.
