RCB to okay launch of Rs 50m projects
Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) is meeting on January 8 to approve the launch of Rs 50 million worth of development projects in the cantonment during fiscal year 2007-08. Rawalpindi Station Commander Brig Sajjad Azam will chair the board meeting.
A senior official told Daily Times on Wednesday that the development projects include laying of new water supply lines, re-carpeting of roads, construction of streets, replacement of old and worn out water supply network and approval of building plans of commercial and private houses.
The board will also approve rates of tenders called for launch of Rs 15 million worth of development works in various areas.
Under the water supply lines project, Rs 4 million will be spent on the laying network in Saddar Area, Rs 0.6 million on the laying network in Siham, Rs 0.120 million on the laying network in Banni Mohallah, Rs 0.730 million in Shimla Valley, Rs 1.100 million in Peshawar Road, Rs 2.915 million in Islamabad View Colony and Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Rs 0.624 million in Kamalabad and Rs 0.303 million in Dargah-e-Tehri, Naseerabad.
Under the streetlights project, Rs 0.224 million worth of streetlights will be installed in Low Paid Defence Employees Housing Scheme, Dhoke Syedan and Rs 0.666 million worth of streetlights near Chakmadad Khan.
Under the re-carpeting project, Rs 2.2721 will be spent on re-carpeting of Lane No 4, Peshawar Road, Rs 2 million on re-carpeting of Zakaria Mosque Road, Rs 0.80 million on re-carpeting of Aibak Road, Rs 1.50 million on re-carpeting of Nagi Road, Rs 1.569 million on re-carpeting of Bahadur Khan Road, Siham and Rs 1.20 million on re-carpeting of main road, Miran Bukhsh Colony.
Similarly, an amount of Rs 1.80 million each has been approved for the construction of cemented streets in Lane No 7, Peshawar Road and Lane No 6, Allahabad, Rs 1.50 million for streets in the Officers Colony, Misrial Road, Rs 1.60 million for streets in Shallay Valley, Rs 2.70 million for Street No 46 and link streets in Allama Iqbal Colony, Rs 1.80 million for streets in Madni Mohallah, Rs 0.859 for construction of Street No 17, Dhoke Banaras, and Rs 3.50 million for the construction of Street No 22 in Naseerabad and streets in Azizabad and carious areas of the cantonment.
The official said the board would likely approve building plans of commercial buildings in Saddar, Tench Bhatta, Choor Chowk and on The Mall.
