Rs. 100-Cr for Drinking Water Supply.
The government will be implementing a special drive to overcome water scarcity during the ensuing summer in all the 110 municipalities in the state, municipal administration minister P Narayana has said.
The programme is estimated to cost Rs. 100 crore, which would be shared equally by the state government and the municipalities, he said here on Saturday.
He was speaking at the inauguration of new Zilla Parishad building. Measures would alsobe taken for tackling water shortage in the 40 mandals of Nellore district, he said, adding that a special cell would be formed at the district collectorate for the purpose.
As a part of the Swachh Bharat-Swachh AP, a plant would be established in every district for the management of waste material and drain water, Narayana said.
ZP chairman Bommireddy Raghavendra Reddy, who presided over the function, said the new ZP building has been constructed on 3.66 acres at a cost of Rs. 7 crore.
The ZP, which is giving top priority to education, has prepared a question bank and distributed it to 10th class students, he said.
Sewing machine centres would be established in every mandal in the district and 10 sewing machines would be distributed to women, who would be given free training in tailoring, he said.
Nellore MP Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy, Tirupati MP V Varaprasad, MLC V Narayana Reddy, MLAs V Sanjivaiah, Ramireddy Pratapkumar Reddy, P Srinivas Reddy, M Goutam Reddy and P Sunilkumar, joint collector Mohammed Imtiaz and additional joint collector RS Rajkumar participated.
