Sabarmati Gas to supply PNG to Gandhinagar Military Station in Gujarat.
The Gandhinagar Military Station at Chiloda is set to become the first Indian Army facility in Gujarat to be powered by Piped Natural Gas (PNG). An agreement for this significant upgrade was formally signed on Saturday between the Indian Army and Sabarmati Gas Ltd.
This collaboration, outlined in a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), will see Sabarmati Gas Ltd extending PNG connectivity to approximately 600 households and 20 canteens/MESS facilities within the military station. The project involves laying an extensive 18-kilometer pipeline network and is slated for completion by October 2025.
Upon completion, this initiative promises to bring enhanced convenience to around 2,000 men and women residing on the campus by providing them with a continuous, safe, and economical supply of natural gas.
The signing ceremony was attended by key officials, including Sanjay Sharma, Managing Director of Sabarmati Gas Ltd, and Brigadier Rajesh Kumar, along with other senior officers from the Indian Army, Chiloda.
Sabarmati Gas Ltd, a joint venture between GSPC and BPCL, is a prominent provider of piped gas connectivity across five districts in North Gujarat. The company currently serves 3.25 lakh domestic customers and 1,550 industrial and commercial clients, in addition to operating 161 CNG pumps.
