Sipera Systems to expand Indian operations

Hyderabad: Texas-based Sipera Systems Inc, a company which provides enterprises and service providers with security solutions for VoIP and unified communications, is looking at expanding its India operations located out of Hyderabad.

“Currently, we have around 45 employees and in the next six months we are looking at taking it up to nearly 80 employees in our new location here. Our combined work force, including people out of the US office, is 90 employees,” Mr Ravi Varanasi, Vice-President (Engineering), Sipera Systems, said while addressing a press conference here to announce the opening of the company’s new office.

According to him, the company is looking at investing around $4 million a year to expand its operations in India.

“India is now just not a low-cost destination for many companies but also a place where one can get a good workforce and we are looking at leveraging this opportunity,” Mr Varanasi added.

Sipera Systems is not only looking at using its Hyderabad office as a development destination but also as a sales office for the South Asian region and also in India.

“Till 2006-07 around 80 per cent of the R&D development used to happen out of our Dallas office but now we have slowly moved this to India and currently around 60 per cent of the development happens out of the Hyderabad centre,” he said.

The company in the last four years has invested around $35 million through venture capital funding and has four main appliances priced between invest $10,000 and $70,000 based on the application for the enterprise. The solutions for service providers, however, are different.

Mr Varanasi also said that this year too the company is looking at maintaining a 300 per cent growth rate and by the end of next year is targeting revenues to touch between $10 million and $15 million.
